Tips for effective social media marketing:
1. "Platform Yourself" onto the most relevant social media platforms. I would recommend making Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts that best represent your company.
2. Engage Your Audience. Use appropriate hashtags and mentions that are relevant to the company and your customers, alike in order to engage your audience. Make sure you are using the correct mentions for a specific person or another company, because it is quite embarrassing to make a mistake on social media with the wrong mention.
3. Get Followers, but Do Not Annoy Them. You can like, share, and comment as your company via your social media accounts, which will get people to check out your pages and hopefully follow them. However, do not post too often on your own pages because your followers should look forward to your posts in order to be 'in the know' about your events. I generally stick to the "4-1-1 Rule" that allows for four posts of new content; one post that was shared/retweeted from another account; and one post of repeated information, respectively.
4. Pictures. The most shared/retweeted posts are those that include pictures, rather than only text. Plus, posting an event flyer as your picture is a way around the 140 character limit on Twitter.
Throughout my internship with Panorama Productions, I used these tips to write countless Facebook and Twitter posts on the Panorama Productions (@DCCLUBBING) and Ultrabar (@ULTRABAR) social media accounts.
Below are just a few examples of posts that I wrote over the course of my internship.
